Welcome to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension – Hardin County. We offer practical, how-to education based on university research. It’s available to any resident of Texas and covers a wide range of subjects: from landscaping your yard to managing your family’s money, from developing leadership in young people to being a wise consumer. In other words, there is something for everyone. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is a member of the Texas A&M University System and reaches out across the state to all people – where they live and where they work.
Mission: To provide quality, relevant outreach and continuing education programs and services to the people of Hardin County.
Extension brings the resources of the Texas A&M University System to Hardin County. Through field based faculty, Extension provides unbiased, research-based information, educational programs, and technical assistance in the following core service areas:

Hardin County
Gateway to the Big Thicket
Hardin County, named in honor of the Hardin Family of Liberty, was established in 1853 from sections of both Liberty and Jefferson Counties. The logging town of Kountze has been the county seat since 1886.
The County is fairly diversified agriculturally with producers in beef cattle, hay production, row crops, nurseries and hunting leases. Hardin County also has the largest Blueberry production in the area.
Recreation in Hardin County includes hiking through the Big Thicket, fishing along Village Creek and touring historical treasures. There are also ample opportunities for hunting and fishing.
